Here's a step-by-step guide on adding previous creators into your Dapple account

Switching systems? Or simply want visibility on people who’ve applied to you before? Good news — you can quickly import previous creators or applicants into Dapple using a simple CSV upload. It takes a few minutes. No heavy lifting required.

A Quick (But Important) Note on Data

Before importing anything, make sure the data was collected legitimately and in line with applicable data protection laws.

Dapple acts as a data processor. That means importing contact data is completely fine — as long as you obtained that data lawfully and have the right to use it.

Also worth noting:

  • ✅ You can import creator contact details

  • ❌ You cannot import past submissions

  • ❌ You cannot import files or attachments from previous systems

This tool is designed to give you visibility — so when someone applies through Dapple, you can immediately see whether they’ve applied to you before.

Why This Is Useful

Once imported, those creators will exist inside your Dapple account. So when you launch a new opportunity:

  • You’ll be able to identify returning applicants

  • You can filter or segment by tags

  • You can build a clearer picture of engagement over time

CSV Format Requirements

To import creators, you’ll need a CSV file in the correct format.

Required Fields

  • email (required) — must be a valid email address

Optional Fields

  • name — full name

  • dob — date of birth in YYYY-MM-DD format

  • address — full address

Example Format

email,name,dob,address john@example.com,John Doe,1990-05-15,"123 Main St"

The simplest way to get this right? Download the sample template directly from Dapple and use that as your starting point.

How to Import Creators

  1. Go to the Creators section

  2. Click Add and select Import from CSV

  3. Download the sample CSV template

  4. Add your data in the correct format

  5. Save your file

  6. Upload it back into Dapple

That’s it.

Import Limits

  • You can upload up to 1,000 creators per import

  • If you have more than 1,000, split your data into batches

  • If you're dealing with significantly larger volumes, contact support and we’ll guide you through the best approach

Add a Creator Tag (Recommended)

During the upload process, you’ll be prompted to apply a Creator Tag to all imported records.

This is incredibly useful.

We recommend:

  1. Creating a tag in Settings called something like:

    • Imported

    • Legacy Applicants

    • Pre-Dapple Applicants

  2. Applying that tag during upload when prompted

Now, when someone applies to a new opportunity, you’ll instantly see whether they existed in your system before.

If you're preparing a migration and want a second pair of eyes on your CSV before uploading, it’s always worth running a small test batch first. Better safe than untangling 1,000 rows later.
