Statuses are an essential part of tracking the progress of a submission on the platform. They give you a clear overview of where a submission stands at any given time. However, it's important to understand how Statuses work and how they differ from Stages.
The Four Core Statuses:
There are four default submission statuses:
New: This status is assigned when a submission is first created.
In Progress: When work begins or review is ongoing, submissions move to this status.
Rejected: This status is assigned when a submission has been reviewed but does not meet the required criteria.
Completed: When the submission process is successfully finished, it moves to this status.
Can You Edit Statuses?
These four core statuses are fixed and cannot be edited. However, you can use Stages to customise how and when these statuses apply.
How Do Stages and Statuses Work Together?
Stages are flexible and can be configured to fit your submission workflow. Each stage is linked to one of the four statuses, allowing you to map your specific process to the core submission statuses.
For example:
A submission might be moved to a stage called "In Review", and in your settings, this stage could be tied to the In Progress status.
If a submission is moved to a "Published" stage, it might automatically change to the Completed status.
Why This Matters:
By configuring Stages and linking them to statuses, you can create a custom workflow while still using the core statuses to keep things consistent. This ensures that no matter how unique your process is, the platform will track submissions accurately with the core statuses. Statuses provide a straightforward way to track a submission’s journey, while Stages give you the flexibility to define the steps in between.
