What File Types Does Dapple Accept on Submission Forms?

Here's a list of all the file types accepted through a submission form

Written by Oz Osbaldeston

Dapple accepts the major file formats across images, video, audio, documents, and text on every submission form. You configure which types each File Upload field accepts (and the maximum size) when you build the form. This article is the full reference of supported formats. If you need a format that's not listed, contact support — we can usually add it.

How do I restrict which file types my form accepts?

Configure accepted file types per File Upload field in Form Builder:

  1. Open the project → Form Builder.

  2. Click any File Upload field.

  3. In the field settings, configure accepted file types — pick a category (Image only, Document only) or specific extensions.

  4. Set the maximum file size for the field.

  5. Save.

Different fields can have different rules — your form might accept Images only for one upload and PDFs only for another.

What's the maximum file size?

Default file uploads accept up to 1 GB per file. For very large uploads (4K video, high-resolution image sets), set the per-field limit deliberately and tell creators in the field description what size to expect. Larger files take longer to upload, especially on mobile.

What if I need a file type that isn't listed?

Contact support. We can usually add common formats on request, especially for industries like architecture, music production, or 3D design where standard formats sit outside this list.

Best practice for file uploads

  • Restrict accepted types deliberately — accepting 'everything' invites garbage. If you only want JPEGs, set the field to accept JPEGs only.

  • Add a clear description on each File Upload field telling creators what to upload — 'PDF, max 10 MB' is far better than no instruction.

  • Test upload limits with a representative file before opening the project — a creator finding the limit at submission time is a bad first impression.

  • Compress large files where possible — most images don't need to be 50 MB.
