How to Connect a Stripe Account to Dapple

In order to take payments you'll need to connect or create a Stripe account

Dapple uses Stripe for payments. Connecting Stripe to Dapple takes around five minutes. Open Settings → Payments, click Connect with Stripe, complete Stripe's identity verification, and you're done. Once connected, every project can charge submission fees, sell tickets, or take any other payment from creators.

Before you start

  • Your organisation's legal name and registered address.

  • A bank account in your organisation's name (this is where Stripe will send payouts).

  • A representative's name, date of birth, and address (for Stripe identity verification).

  • Your tax ID or business registration number — required in most countries.

  • Your organisation's website URL.

How to Set Up

  1. Navigate to Organisation Settings by clicking on your org name in the top left-hand corner of your account

  2. Once in the settings, select the Payments tab

  1. Click the Set up Stripe account button

  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to either:

    • Create a new Stripe account

    • Connect an existing Stripe account

Make sure when connecting, you use the same email address that is linked to your existing Stripe account; otherwise Stripe will try to prompt you to create a new account if it doesn't recognise the email address.

During this process, Stripe will ask for verification information to comply with financial regulations and ensure secure transactions. Sometimes this may happen after the connection is made. You will see this prompt to Complete Setup

Once you have connected a Stripe account and any additional details have been confirmed, you can then add payment fields to your projects.

How long does Stripe verification take?

Most organisations are verified instantly, especially in the UK, US, EU, Australia, and Canada. If Stripe needs additional documents (a utility bill, a business registration certificate, or extra ID), verification can take 1–3 business days. You can still build projects in Dapple while verification is pending — you just can't accept payments until it's complete.

Common problems

Problem

What to do

Settings → Payments still shows 'Not Connected' after the Stripe flow

Refresh the page. If it still shows Not Connected, sign out and back in to Dapple.

Stripe says my country isn't supported

Check Stripe's list of supported countries. If yours isn't on it, you can't accept Stripe payments via Dapple yet.

Identity verification keeps failing

Stripe sometimes needs a clearer photo of your ID, a utility bill, or a business registration document. Open your Stripe dashboard → Account → Documents to see what's outstanding.

When can I start charging creators?

As soon as Stripe shows Connected in Dapple. Open any project, add a payment field to your submission form, and change the project's Visibility from Draft to Public. Creators will pay through Stripe's secure checkout the moment they submit.

Payment Country

The country you have set in your general settings must match the country where you Stripe account is registered. If these are misaligned, then you will receive an error when setting up the account.

Payment Currency

Select the desired currency that you wish to take all payments in.

If you need to disconnect your Stripe account at any point, you can do this at the bottom of the page - be aware that this will mean you will no longer be able to take payment and will have an effect on any live submission forms you have.

Demo Account

If using the Demo Account in Dapple you can add a Test Stripe account here too so you can test how payments works before setting live. You'll need to follow the instructions above in the same way but all the details do not need to be real. Stripe will prompt you to put in fake data and will have constant reminders that the account you set up will not be real.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with payment setup:

  • Ensure your Stripe account verification is complete

  • Check that your banking information is correctly entered

  • Verify your project payment settings are properly configured

  • Contact support if you continue experiencing problems
