If you’re taking payments through Dapple (for entry fees, application charges, tickets, etc.), sooner or later you might need to issue a refund. Good news: it’s quick and simple to do right from within the platform.

Here’s how.

How to Issue a Refund

  1. Navigate to the specific submission you need to refund in Dapple.

  2. Look to the right-hand column — you’ll see a Payments box showing the confirmed paid amount.

  3. Click on the payment amount — this opens a pop-up with details of the transaction.

  4. Select “Refund”

    • In the pop-up, hit the “Refund” button.

    • You should then see a message saying that the refund has been successfully completed.

    • The creator will immediately receive an email saying their payment has been refunded.

    • Expect the amount to show back to the creator in their bank account within 5–10 business days.

If necessary, you should then archive the submission if it's no longer necessary to have this in your submissions list.

Important Details

Full Amount vs Partial Refunds

  • The built-in refund function will return the entire amount paid.

  • If you need to refund only part of a payment, send that request to the Dapple support team — we’ll help you handle it.

How Long It Takes

Refunds don’t happen instantly with banks and card processors. Once initiated:

  • Expect the amount to show back to the creator within 5–10 business days.

  • Timings can vary slightly depending on the creator’s bank or card provider.

Transaction Fees

The full paid amount goes back to the creator, but:

  • A refund transaction fee may be charged to your account by the payment processor.

  • This is outside of Dapple’s control — the fee policy is set by Stripe.

More About Refunds (Stripe Reference)

Dapple uses Stripe for payment processing. If you want a deeper dive into how refunds work on the payments side (timelines, fee policies, reverse flows), Stripe’s documentation is a great resource:

Final Thoughts

Refunding in Dapple is designed to be:

  • Quick, with just a few clicks

  • Transparent, so you always know what’s happening

  • Fair, issuing the full amount back to the creator

But because payment processing involves external systems (banks, card networks, Stripe), there are some timelines and fees you should be aware of.
