How to Delete a Review and Reassign the Submission to a Different Reviewer

Remove a review sent to the wrong reviewer, take it off their account, and send the submission to someone else.

Written by Oz Osbaldeston

Deleting a review in Dapple removes a reviewer from a submission. Use it when you have sent a submission to the wrong reviewer, or no longer need their review. Open the submission, go to the Reviews tab, click the three-dot menu next to the review round and choose Delete Review. The review disappears from the reviewer's account straight away, and you can then send the submission to a different reviewer. If you want to keep the feedback you already have and simply stop waiting for more, mark the review as complete instead.

What happens when you delete a review in Dapple?

Deleting a review undoes the assignment. Dapple:

  • Removes the reviewer from the submission's review round

  • Removes the submission from the reviewer's account, so they can no longer open or score it

  • Frees the submission up to be sent to a different reviewer

Common reasons to delete a review:

  • You sent the submission to the wrong reviewer

  • A reviewer has a conflict of interest with the applicant

  • A reviewer has dropped out of your panel

  • You sent the submission to the wrong review round

How do I delete a review in Dapple?

Delete a review from the submission itself.

  1. Open the submission.

  2. Select the Reviews tab.

  3. Find the review round the reviewer is assigned to.

  4. Click the three-dot menu on the right of the review round.

  5. Click Delete Review.

The reviewer no longer appears under the round, and the submission is removed from their account.

How do I reassign the submission to a different reviewer?

Once the review is deleted, send the submission to the right reviewer from the same submission.

  1. Stay on the submission and click Send to Reviewers at the top of the Reviews tab, or in the Assigned Reviewers panel on the right.

  2. Choose the review round.

  3. Tick the new reviewer.

  4. Click Send to reviewers.

To add a reviewer without removing anyone, use Send to more reviewers in the review round's three-dot menu. For other ways to assign, including in bulk from the submissions list, see How to Add Reviewers to a Submission in Dapple.

Should I delete a review or mark it as complete?

Both options appear in the same three-dot menu, but they do different jobs.

Delete Review

Mark Complete

What it does

Removes the reviewer from the submission

Closes the review and stops waiting for more feedback

Reviewer's account

The submission disappears from it

The submission stays, but no more feedback is expected

Use it when

The wrong person was assigned, or you need to swap reviewers

You have enough feedback and want the submission to move on

Next step

Send the submission to a different reviewer

Move the submission to its next stage

See How to Mark Reviews as Complete for the full steps, including how to complete every submission in a stage at once.

Best practice

  • Check the reviewer's name before you click Delete Review — the menu sits on the review round, not on the individual reviewer.

  • Reassign straight away so the submission isn't left without a reviewer.

  • Let the reviewer know if they have already started — the submission disappears from their account without warning.

  • Mark the review as complete instead if the reviewer has already given useful feedback you want to keep.

  • Need a reviewer to change a score rather than be removed? Reverse the submitted review instead.
