Importing existing submissions into the system requires some preparation and coordination with our team. This guide will walk you through the process step by step to ensure your data is successfully imported.

Prerequisites

Before beginning the import process, you'll need to complete some preliminary steps:

  1. Create all relevant Projects in the system

  2. Create test submissions manually in the system for each of the projects for which you would like to import data

  3. Create an export that contains at least one test submission per project. The reason for doing this is so that all the relevant form fields are contained within the export.

  4. Prepare your submission data according to the template

  5. Submit the completed file to our team

Step 1: Set Up Your Projects

Ensure all necessary Projects are created in the system before attempting to import submissions. Each submission must be associated with an existing Project, so this step is crucial.

Step 2: Create Test Submissions

To obtain the correct CSV format:

  1. Add a test submission to each of your Projects

Step 3: Export your data

To obtain the correct CSV format:

  1. Export this submission following the export process

  2. This will generate a CSV file with all the required form fields included in the CSV

The exported CSV serves as your template, showing exactly which fields are needed and how they should be formatted.

Step 3: Prepare Your Data

With your template CSV file ready:

  1. Open the exported template in your preferred spreadsheet application

  2. Copy and paste your existing submission data into the appropriate columns

  3. Ensure all required fields are completed

  4. Verify that your data formatting matches the template's structure

Step 4: Submit for Import

Once your CSV file is complete:

  1. Send the filled CSV file to the Dapple team

  2. Our team will handle the manual import of your submissions

  3. You may be contacted if any clarification is needed

Important Notes

  • All data must conform to the column structure of the export template

  • Missing or incorrectly formatted data may cause import failures

  • The import process is handled manually by our team, so please allow time for processing

  • You'll be notified when the import is complete
