Reviews are a powerful feature in Dapple that help organisations fairly and efficiently assess submissions. Instead of decisions resting on one person, reviews enable submissions to be shared with panels of reviewers—such as readers, editors, or judges—who can each provide their input.
Setup Steps
Here are the different steps needed:
1. Create Review Panels
The first step is to create your Review Panels. A Review Panel is group of reviewers such as readers, editors, or judges who can each provide their input on a submission giving feedback, adding a score and a vote. You can:
Add both external and internal users in your organisation into these panels
Add as many reviewers as needed to each panel
Create different panels for different Stages of the Submission
Create as many panels as needed.
Follow this guide on how to create a Review Panel and add the different users to these panels.
2. Assigning Review Panels to Projects
After you've created your Review Panels, you'll then need to point them to the correct Projects. You'll need to select the required project and then choose from your pre-created list of Review Panels to link the project to the panel. This means that when submissions start coming through and you send them for review, it gets sent to the correct panel! Here's more on assigning Review Panels to Projects.
3. Setting up Reviews
After you've chosen your selected panel(s) for your Project, you'll then need to set up the rules that govern this review. You'll then need to configure:
Stages - Which stages you want this panel to be active for
Guidance - instructions for the panel on how to evaluate
Feedback - Set the scoring range, the vote options and the comments section
Here's more details on how to set up your reviews. Once this step has been completed, you're ready to start sending submissions for review.
4. Sending Submissions for Review
When submissions come through, you can start sending to your Review Panels. You can either send individual submissions or do this as a bulk action and send all submissions at a certain Stage (particularly important for contests with rounds for judges). Here's more information on the different ways to send submissions for review.
5. Reviewing Submissions
When a submission is sent to a review panel, each member will be notified and the submission will appear in their dedicated Review Account. Submissions will appear in a queue of pending reviews, and a reviewer can work through their to-do list, submitting their score, vote or feedback where applicable. Here's more information on how to review your submissions.
6. Viewing Feedback and Reviews
When reviews come back in from your Review Panels, if you have Team Manager or Admin permissions, you'll then be able to see the scores, votes and comments saved against each of the submissions. You'll then be able to make an informed decision on the status of a submission, whether to decline, move to another Stage (such as the next round) or whether to complete the submission. Here's some more information on how to view the feedback and reviews.
