Welcome to Dapple! Just to recap, Dapple is a submission management tool designed to streamline your administrative workflow by:
Centralising all submissions in one organised location
Eliminating scattered digital files and the need for email inboxes
Creating a structured system for tracking and processing submissions
Now you've created an account and logged in, let's get you setup and ready to go π
1. Setup your General Settings
The first very simple step is to customise your General Settings. Make sure you are happy with the Organisation name, your primary industry and add a logo - this will appear at the top of any sent emails. To do this, head the bottom of the left hand panel and select Settings > Organisation Settings > General
2. Setup your Projects
The main setup step you'll need to complete is setting up your "Projects". A project is a core element of Send Something where you define the parameters of your submission opportunity, including what you're looking for, the guidelines, open/close dates, submission forms, payments if required and review parameters.
When you first create an account, we will have created some industry specific project templates already to get you started. You can create a project from scratch, although we'd recommend using an existing project and then either editing this or duplicating it to create a copy that you can then edit accordingly.
Within each project you should set the following up.
Perhaps the main setup step will be setting up your submission Forms. You can set these up from scratch, using Ash or tweaking the existing template forms. You should following:
Customise the Form Fields
Customise the design of your form by changing the colours, adding header images, adding background images and other design edits
3. Setup Payments
You have the ability to take payments through Send Something and will need to set this up if you intend to charge fees for submissions. We use the third party payment provider Stripe to manage all payments. You'll need to follow these instructions to either connect an existing Stripe account or create a new one.
4. Create Message Templates
Message templates provide a powerful way to standardise your communications while saving time and ensuring consistency. When you first create an account, we'll create a few basic message templates to get you on your way however you'll want to create your own.
5. Customise your Tags
Tags are a great way to keep your submissions organised. You can either create Submission Tags that are added specifically to individual submissions or Creator Tags which are attached to a creator's profile and will show up every time they submit new material to you. We've added some default ones for you, however we'd recommend creating your own industry/business specific tags.
6. Send a Test Submission
Once you have created a project and setup a submission form, you'll want to test it out! Head to:
Settings > Organisation Settings > Projects
Select the project you want to test.
Select Form Design and select View Form
Fill out the form as if you were someone submitting material (we call them Creators) and remember that the submission will be made under your own user account name! Any test submissions will not count towards any submission limits you have.
7. Set Live on your Website
Once you have tested your project submission form and all is working the way it should, the final step is to add it to your website or required channel. Follow these instructions to set your project live and then add to the desired location by copying the URL or adding a widget to your location. Remember, you can create individual links per project and add to wherever a link can be hosted whether this be a button on a website, an email campaign or social media etc.
8. Add other members of your Team
Now you've setup your account, projects, connected a Stripe account, customised your message templates and tags and set a submission form live, invite some more of your team to use the platform too. You can have up to 10 users in the free plan so invite them to create an account. Here's how to invite users in a couple of simple steps.
